United Way’s Community Builders is asking individuals, nonprofits, community and faith based organizations to submit innovative volunteer projects that will generate new volunteers while creating a positive impact on the region.

Individuals, organizations or groups interested in applying can find the application on United Way’s website, www.uwncm.org.  The deadline is March 11.

“We thought our Star Projects Competition would be a great way to celebrate National Volunteer Week, which is April 10 – 16, by asking the community to vote for their favorite initiative,” noted Karin Oliveira, director of United Way’s Community Builders, which promotes volunteerism.

The community can view and vote for their favorite projects on United Way’s website beginning April 25. The project with the most votes will receive $1,000. The winners will implement their “Star Projects” during National Volunteer Week.

United Way’s Community Builders maintains a volunteer website at http://www.community-builders.net/.  Corporate partners include: Bemis Associates, Unitil and KCMC Management/Dunkin Donuts.
