The holidays are a wonderful and heartwarming time of year to reconnect to what truly matters – love, togetherness, friends, family, and giving. It is a festive time to celebrate our commitment to the people closest to us.

For some however, it can be a time of stress, anxiety, and desperation. Families who live in poverty struggle all year long to provide food and shelter. With extra pressure to provide above and beyond during the holidays, it can be a disheartening and discouraging season for many less fortunate families.

Fortunately, there is the spirit of love, giving and sharing serves as a beacon of hope to make the holidays brighter for everyone. If we all come together as a community, giving our time or sharing our resources, we can make the holidays a wonderful time for all families.

Learn how you can make this holiday season a little brighter for your neighbor by sharing your time, talent and treasures through a local non-profit agency.

Here are just a few organizations in need of your help this season!

  • Ginny’s Helping Hand is requesting food items to include in their holiday baskets, as well as toys for deserving children.

  • Our Father’s House is in need of winter items, including gloves and hats of any size and thickness, as well as food donations.

  • Fitchburg Salvation Army is asking for donations of toys and non-perishable food items.

  • Spanish American Center is looking for volunteers to help organize coats as part of their Coat Drive.  They are also collecting non-perishable food items, turkeys and hams for local food pantries.
