United Way Supplemental Basic Needs Initiative

Provide Immediate Impact for Those in Crisis

Our Supplemental Basic Needs Initiative enables us to fund programs that address an inidividual or family's immediate and short-term needs such as job loss, mental health issues, or a sudden physical disability.

Requests for help have increased by more than 30% in our region, and our community's generosity enabled us to assist over 2,800 individuals last year.

UWNCM partners with 16 local non-profit service providers, including food pantries, homeless shelters, and Salvation Army groups. When necessary, we provide grant funding for food, short-term hotel stays, fuel deliveries, and prevention of utility shut-offs.
