United Way Supplemental Basic Needs
United Way of North Central Massachusetts Strategy
In North Central Massachusetts, we LIVE UNITED against financial struggles… through
United Way Supplemental Basic Needs Initiative, with its goal to ensure that:
- Individuals and families are able to get on more solid financial ground.
You don’t often hear about the ‘working poor,’ but they have been hit hard by the economy. If you earn the minimum wage or slightly more and/or your hours have been cut, it can be difficult to make ends meet.
It is estimated that roughly three-quarters of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck.
Our strategy for FINANCIAL STABILITY includes:
The United Way Supplemental Basic Needs Initiative, which provides services to families who may not qualify for government programs—but are struggling to make ends meet.
For too many families, all it takes is a single life event—that happens to all of us—the car breaks down, unexpected dental expense, the boiler or water heater gives out—that can send a family into a financial tailspin.
The United Way Supplemental Basic Needs Initiative helps families struggling with targeted utility assistance, food and referrals when life events make it difficult to keep the family financially afloat.
The whole community benefits when more working individuals and families are able to stop walking a financial tightrope and get on solid ground.
