United Way Recognizes Volunteers and Donors at 39th Annual Thank-You Event

Local companies, students, and supporters applauded for commitment to community

LEOMINSTER, MA April 25, 2019 — The United Way of North Central Massachusetts (UWNCM) celebrated the efforts of volunteers and donors to better their community at its 39th Annual Thank-You Event on April 24th. More than 100 attendees gathered for an evening of appreciation and entertainment at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Leominster.

UWNCM President Philip Grzewinski shared his gratitude for the many people who give their time, effort, and resources to support United Way initiatives and make a difference in the North Central Massachusetts region. Attendees were also treated to a performance by the Irish American Step Dancers.

During the event, Spirit of North Central Massachusetts Corporate Leadership Awards were presented to Heywood Hospital, L.S. Starrett Company, Sterilite Corporation, and Workers Credit Union. The awards recognized the companies for the impacts they have made in the community by running strong United Way Campaigns with high levels of employee participation.

This year’s Employee Campaign Manager of the Year Award went to Renee Letourneau in honor of her impressive work organizing the United Way Campaign for Simonds International, which included numerous locations throughout the country.

Two participants from United Way Youth Venture were also awarded academic scholarships in recognition of their inspiring Venture projects. Kyle Doyle of Leominster High School resurrected a former Venture that helps freshman adjust to high school; and Landon Tucker, a graduate of Fitchburg High School and rising sophomore at Union College, created a student club that tackles different issues in the community each month.

Event sponsors include DoubleTree by Hilton, Rollstone Bank & Trust, Sterilite Corporation, Athol Savings Bank, Hannaford Supermarkets, Simonds International, Workers Credit Union. Avidia Bank, and Ms. Marina Raher, CPA.
