United Way of North Central Massachusetts invites individuals, companies, and schools to help make a difference by volunteering during their Day of Caring, which will take place on Friday, September 21, this year.

“This is our biggest volunteer event of the year,” says United Way President, Phil Grzewinski, “and the community never fails to impress me with their willingness to pitch in and lend a hand to help make North Central Massachusetts an even better place to work and live.”
Grzewinski also offered praise for the many area businesses that support Day of Caring as sponsors. While there is still an opportunity for companies to become sponsors (up until August 10), sponsoring organizations to date, include DoubleTree by Hilton- Leominster, and Johnson Controls as a Premier Sponsors, as well as:

While many Day of Caring events involve physical activity (painting, indoor and outdoor clean ups, trail creation and maintenance, etc.) others simply require a special talent (photography), a love of books, or an ability to sit at a table and stuff envelopes.
“There’s scientific proof that volunteering is good for our minds and bodies,” says Fran Longton, Volunteer Center Manager for United Way of North Central Massachusetts. “It helps counteract stress, increases happiness and self-confidence, and gives us a sense of purpose.”
