FITCHBURG, MA, April 26, 2018 – 120 energetic Monty Tech students helped launch the 2018 United Way’s Combat Hunger initiative on Wednesday, April 25. The students worked from 10 am to 2 pm helping to package meals.  Coordinating their efforts were Monty Tech’s Victoria Zarozinski, Director of Student Support, Kathy Hanson, the school social worker First Sgt. Paul Jornet, who oversees the school’s JROTC Program, and Sheila Harrity, Ed.D., Monty Tech’s Superintendent.

“We are so appreciative of the many individuals, businesses, and organizations who volunteer their time, talent, and financial resources for the welfare of their North Central Massachusetts neighbors,” commented UWNCM President Phil Grzewinski. Grzewinski also expressed his gratitude to Combat Hunger’s The only sponsor for the MT event was MT. These sponsors are for the May 16 event.

The next Combat Hunger event is on May 16, 2018 at Great Wolf Lodge where 150 volunteers will help package more than 40,000 meals from 10am to 2pm. The event is made possible by the two Premier Sponsors, Aubuchon Hardware and Great Wolf Lodge, as well as this year’s Gold Sponsor, AIS, Inc.
